Autoguide buys forums. They've offered in the past, and have been turned down.

'MUD is among the last privately owned large automotive forums left, and I believe is the only one that is solely-held.

Wow, I did not know that. Well big nevermind then and keep up the good work. Thanks!

I've bought a gold star last year to vote my support for this forum. I appreciate all the work and effort woody goes through to keep it going, but without Tapatalk, I'm not checking it much. I have all my forums gathered into Tapatalk and it worked. I never cared as much for the MUD app and using Safari just isn't the same. It's fine, I'll jump on every so often on my laptop, but won't be checking the forum several times a day like I used to :( To each their own. Happy trails...

I hope you get the Tapatalk thing sorted out and running.

I will still use this forum, but my traffic will go down to the profit of other not so good forums.

Tapatalk made it simple and fast to contribute.

Refering to an earlier post, yes there is 10k users and a fraction using Tapatalk, but how many users are actually active users contribuing frequently. I bet also that the mobile users are will remain mobile as much as possible for years to come.

Anyway, i love this forum and will support it if needed. I take care of websites and forums as well and it's not easy, so i can imagine what Tapatalk can be a pain.

Does anyone know if Forum Runner is any good?

ForumRunner was great when it was privately owned. Internet Brands (vBulletin owners) purchased it and has run it into the ground (much like they did with vBulletin).

Tapatalk pulled another of their poor decisions this morning. Reinforces my decision to not do business with them.

Thats a bummer..

Lets see what the future holds

Would you be willing to elaborate on the poor practices that you have mentioned more than once?

I was wondering what information we should be worried about sharing? There is nothing in my profile here that could ever be used to hurt me I wouldn't think heh

All I know is I personally am much happier at least on Android just using Chrome and dumping Tapatalk.

I have links on my Home Screen for Chrome that take me to the main forum or the 60 forum. Just use add to Home Screen in the overflow menu in Chrome.

I have by-passed "computer illiterate" and am computer stupid. Anyone care to lay out step by step instructions for posting pictures from an I-phone 6 to Mud or a link to a thread with instructions ? I have access to a Mac as well as a PC.
Dumb it down boyz. I'll catch on eventually-maybe……
thanks

ditto.. i can't figure out how to post photos thru an iPad. My Mud logins are already waayyy down, looks my contributions are headed there too!

@woody - got an FAQ on this?

That was taken with my iPad. Attach File, just like a computer...

Obviously, since I've mentioned it a dozen times in this and other threads, you DO have your Flash Uploads disabled in your User Preferences...so obviously, that's not the issue...obviously....

silly me, i was trying to poke the little picture icon in the rich text editor. the one next to the smiley and the filmstrip.

Oddly, "attach file" is not that intuitive...but since pdf and gpx and other files are allowed, it makes more sense than Attach Photo

i'd say "not at all intuitive" or I'd have figured it out without getting the nice detailed response from @locklin. thanks for that, showed I could also get from dropbox, which I hadn't considered.

Someone messages me every week, wanting to know why all the images in thread xyz are missing...sure enough, user 123 chose to link from Dropbox, or Photobucket, or wherever...and their access lapsed...lost a LOT of great tech that way.

Upload space is unlimited for a reason.

That wasn't the point of the dropbox comment. it was that that upload file allows you to attach files from a dropbox or other location on on the ipad, which is helpful when the images aren't in the camera roll on the device.
