Has anyone else had problems with tail light rubber from slocruisers? Mine fits ok, but after being on the pig for 3 months or so, have turned ash gray, almost white, and they feel brittle.

Any ideas?

 WOW :frown: Maybe a bad one..the proverbial lemon? Imagine someone here might have better and yours do sound a bit far gone, but you might try something like saBesto lubricating compound. I've used it some and liked its results.

Edit: Any other new rubber from Slocruisers, PVCruisers or anywhere else on your pig? And how is it doing (if so)?

No other new rubbber installed. I'm eventually going to replace the windshield gasket, and tailgate rubber, but PVCruisers screwed me on the tailgate rubber.....by taking their website down right after I ordered.

I'm afraid to spend several hundred dollars with slocruisers if this is what I can expect from their stuff.

I emailed slocruisers....they suggest spray painting it black? Brilliant! Why didn't I think of that!?

where do buy the sabesto lubricating compound.....I'll give it a try.

Wurth makes it. They are on the net and/or sell through reps. The rep that services my local Toyota told me they are making the move to retail through their service points like Toyota etc..

Sent you a PM as well.

a few years ago I had some u-shaped rubber trim of a similar size that I bet would work if carefully trimmed with exacto knife. looked and can't find it or where I got it. It might have been something that someone gave me after he did the chrome headlight trim on a chevelle about 1967 I think.

yeah, time to start searching out a replacement that is close enough to call good.

Good thoughts, thanks

I've got to say that I'm happy so far with the stuff from PV Cruisers (who unfortunately are no longer in the piggy business) and Slocruisers. I have the upper tailgate glass and cargo weatherstrip from PV Cruisers and the windsheild and tailgate wiper/side weatherstrip from Slocruisers. It's all been on my '55 for at least 6 months or more and there has been no discoloration or degrading that I have noticed.

I sent John a NOS tail light weatherstrip for a mold for the tail light rubber about 6 months ago, I can't recall which side it was or if it was tail light lens to fixture or taillight fixture to body rubber.

I'm eagerly awaiting the weatherstrip for the small rear door window and hopefully the body/tailgate weatherstrip that Slocruisers is supposed to be working on.
