Im looking at getting a tablet and decided to go with the Samsung Galaxy 7.7 tablet.
I just down know if I should get the Verizon version or the GSM unlocked version.
The pros with the unlocked version is that it can be used as a phone and obviously I can use it with more than one carrier here in North America and over seas as well.
The cons is the price....and probably no 4G network (not sure about this), only 3G.

Any body has any experience with either one of these choices...and or recommend a place to purchase the unlocked version ? I have found a few on line but dont know much about their customer service.....

Thanks in advance...:beer::beer:

FWIW: if it's US only, Verizon is probably fine (what makes you think it would not work as phone?). Best network and best service in the US I believe. If you're going to travel overseas and would like to take it with you, then GSM for sure. Personally, I'd never go Verizon cuz I travel overseas. You may also want to wait for the Galaxy Note 8 that's about to come out I'm told?

Verizon's version does not support phone capabilities and or text messages.
I know nothing about rooting tables or phones for that matter, but the little I have read on the net says that even with a rooted tablet all you can manage is get rid of the bloatware.

You are right Verizon service is awesome...

I do need/want GSM as I go north and south of the border often.....

Thanks for the input !!

keep in mind too that you can likely use many phones as modem for a non-GSM tablet and get internet connection that way. I do it with my travel laptop and it's also cheaper than a regular computer SIM plan.

Yah, that's another reason I want an rooted and unlocked tab.. so i can be used as both a phone something else (gps, labtop, book). Im careless with phones and they end up getting misplaced.....
