So I took a closer look at my tcase and found the front driveshaft pinion bearing is screwed, tonnes of play in every direction and won't hold oil. The rear also leaks and I need to change the clutch... So it looks like some sort of rebuild needs to happen. Has anyone done this job and could recommend what sort of kit I could buy or what parts should need replacing overall?

the tcase rebuild isn't that difficult, all big uncivilized chunks. Only finicky bit is the preload right at the end, and sometimes you get lucky and nail it first time, although there is a little needle bearing at the front that can be a bugger to get out.

I believe Rob has a gold plated tool he keeps in a mahogany velvet lined box just for that bearing, I used a modified bolt, a socket and a couple of nuts. :hillbilly:

Cruiser outfitters was the cheapest place for the kit by about $200 when I did one last (2 years ago)

There was an excellent write up on mud somewhere that had a ton of pictures...I'll see if I can find it again at some point.

Also, you can get slightly lower gears if you put the ones from a 4speed splitcase into your 5speed splitcase...I believe you need the same idler size for that to work tho.

look into getting a macnamara output gear to save that H55f shaft.
Its well worth it to put one in. The spacer is splined making there more contact on your shaft
(its the upper one) stock is the lower one.

I'm starting to think he does it on purpose. It's just a quote button, how could someone possibly fxxx it up that often?

EDIT...Nice to see mud is now editing our language. This is how it starts.

Next is kids getting taught that Trex had short arms so it couldn't masturbate.
