Just wondering how big a job it is to replace the front input seal on my transfer case - '87 BJ-73. I've never done one before, so I thought I'd ask... thanks!

Thanks!

Front input? The only thing input-ing into the t-case is the transmission, and that a case seal. The transmission and t-case would have to be removed and split.

If you mean the t-case output shaft, then front or rear is just a matter of yanking the driveshaft and pulling the flange to access the seal.

PS, if the second "thanks" was a sarcastic one, I can tell you that always goes over very poorly here....

There is a few that have done the seal by removing the t/case only and replacing the seal and rebuilding it in situ.

Not a job I care to take on though
