Thanks for the info. I will fuse both leads, is there any reason for this redundance??

The antenna is grounded. The coax carries the ground from the radio. The radio gets it's ground from the battery ground lead. If the battery ground to block/body is compromised, then the radio/coax/antenna becomes the ground for the whole vehicle - it can't carry the current and poof/flames/sparks/death/dismemberment etc occurs :) The fuse in the ground lead protects against this.

This goes for ANY item that is directly grounded to the battery that can become the 'weak-link/ground'...

Ahh, makes total sense. I never ground directly to the batt terminal (always use chassis ground).

In the case of radios you should make a direct connection to the battery ground.
