So every time you want to get in the back you have to lift that heavy bastard? Sorry...someone had to say it

Maybe heavy for you! :flipoff2:

looks nice

you don't have the whole assembly weight on the tip of your Hilift, though, right?

No sir there's a bracket on the bottom to hold the base in place. I'll post a pic later for ya.
Thanks

Hahaha dumbass me. I see what you mean now. The tire hits the ground at the same point as the hi lift does.

I love this style as it allows you a step to access the interior and makes removal easier as it already sits on the ground.

These are a lot tougher to build correctly compared to a swing out, a lot more you can screw up so I have stuck with swing outs so far.

This has been a great bumper. offers great protection.my only compliant is the tire being on the passenger side which makes is hard to see behind me. the worst part is me not being able to see my 100 behind me whatsoever. ( unless i have something sticking up )

A Google query resulted this thread, a closed thread for Nay's, and many for the J**p.

An interesting concept that I'd like to explore, for the purpose of maintaining clearance, centering the tire, and an option for moving the stench of molten rubber out of the cargo bay, my original plan (copying MTBs earlier setup, unless he'd be interested in a signed liability waiver, and my money. Make a cover of some sort to minimize the odor)

What I lack in mechanical design and fabrication abilities, I compensate with ambition, so trying to determine viability of a single post concept to mount a 345/75/16 KM2, with the mounting point being to the inside of the tire (between tire and tailgate).

Envision an arched support, connected to a spindle of some form, that's supported between the rear frame rails. If assist is possible (mimic a dove tail trailer ramp??) great. If not, oh well.

Wanted to check to see how your experience was doing, and appreciate the feedback.

it will and will be holding 37" tire pretty soon. it will be a hea vy beast with the 37" tire, but i dont need to get in through the back very often. i removed all but one rear seat, so back access is easy.

What advantage does this have to a traditional swingout besides having a step? Is this hydro assisted any? Price difference?

no real advantages over a swingout really. a hydro assist would be a cool addition. i paid 450$ for this used. it was originally built for Calstyl's 97 that he sold to a guy in sac and i got it off of him. for the price i couldnt say no.

Correct my thinking, please, since I'm trying to talk myself out of bumper mounted, period.

The advantages I see are minimization of the bumper corner size, since a swing out spindle assembly dictates the size and strength of the bumper wing. Plus, weight savings, simplicity (at least aesthetically) centering the spare, and being able to mount lower.

Regardless of spare mount, I'm contemplating a structural roll pan, for lack of a better term, the same width as the tailgate, and reinforced wings hugging the body, but.....
