Great find-you will want to remember one thing, leaving the gate or hatch open turns door lights on & can cause you to drain your battery, if you choose to get the tent may want to look at putting in LED lights in the doors to reduce battery drain. Just a thought...

What about just pulling the fuse before you go to bed?

The Oztents are handled by David at Urban Land Cruisers. The one shown in the link on the oztent site is the RV series and you can add side panels to the awning as well as a front panel to fully enlcose the front awning. They set up in 30 seconds and fold it folds into a long bag much like you see for snow ski's.

They are awesome tents and owned by numerous TLCA members.

As an FYI for those playing along at home, David is dd113 on this board, and Urban Land Cruisers lives here.

Oh, and don't 80 series have switches on the dome and rear lights so you can turn them off without pulling a fuse? I know my 60 does...

Ok, so I finally got this truck tent last night. I went with the full size truck version rather than the suv/minivan, which was the right choice. I managed to get it put on and it seems pretty decent. Will it stand up to a hurricane? No way. But it will keep most water out on a mildly rainy evening and will allow me and the :princess: to sleep in it comfortably with an air mattress. It is all held down to the vehicle with bungee cords. I may make a few modifications to allow for using cam straps instead and to get the strap out of the way of the rear door. It has a few places that it doesn't sit quite flush with the sides of the truck (like around the flares), but overall I think will keep most wind and water out. I will post up results after using it sometime in the spring, as I probably won't be doing any camping until then. The setup is pretty straight forward and easy, and for about a tenth of the price of some of the other options posted here I'd say it will probably suit my needs just fine. I don't do any big expeditions to Mexico and the like, where a sturdier option would make more sense. If you weren't planning on living in it, I think it would work out great for car camping. At any rate, here are a few pics of it in my garage, if I got the pic posting process right:

It kind of looks like a diaper that people put on their female dogs in heat, Sorry just an observation, I'm sure it will function fine.
