Okay so I am stuck at my house and ripped my 1980HJ45's suspension down and put new bushings and shackles that are 4 inches longer than stock in the front. with four degree shims of course, no problems on the front. Got to the back and ripped some of the stupid amount of leafs out basically the three overloads and one of the others so it did not ride like a hay wagon. Same long shackles on the rear. Good news it leveled the troopie and raised it about 2", bad news I have a vibration between 90-100Km I figure maybe need to shim the rear due to changing the pinion angle.

Looking for other opinions before I tear into it again. And please no opinions from shackle haters. I wasn't going to buy brand new 2" lift springs with nine leafs and expect them to ride and flex like my custom job. Total investment minus the bushings $40 yard sale shackles and some new bolts is all it took.

I'm a shackle hater, but you are right on about cost effectiveness. I shelled out the cash for OME on a previous troopy and was quite disappointed with the ride quality, even of the medium springs. Much stiffer than OEM and the fronts only lifted it 1/2". Current troopy has some lift springs even stiffer than OME, but after pulling leaves it's tolerable.

I would measure the angle at the pinion flange and the t-case flange. If the pinion is up more than a degree or 2 higher than the t-case, I'd try shims. Otherwise, it might be time for new U-joints.

Looks good!

Drive shaft out of phase? I did that once and it took forever to figure out on my 81 mini truck.
