I'll be removing and installing the leaf springs and installing new greasable shackles and pins. Also installing steering stabilizer and sway bar links. Does anyone have any tips for removal and installation of these parts
Also do i need to extend the rear sway bar after lifting my FJ62 or does just the front need to be extended?

I recommend an application of PB blaster on all of the bolts you will be touching twice a day for the 5 days proceeding the task. This will result in much less cussing.

If you have access to a torch, it greatly reduces removal time.

What about the rear sway bar do I need to extend this for the lift (3+ inches)

The rear sway bars as well as the fronts will need to be extended. There are extenders available, or you can fabricate extended connectors from the existing links.

Hey Doc or anyone have you installed those southwest 4x4 shackles yet hopefully I'll have mine on soon but I was just wondering if you've had problems with them or not.

Mac,

I just stopped in and picked up a set of the 2" shackles at SouthWest 4x4 in Ballinger TX. It worked out well, I was heading hom for Xmas and drive right through Ballinger. I saved on the shipping which was great. I got the greasable pins, the shackles, the shims and the new bushings for the shackles all for $175. I should have mine on by the end of the week.

I will not be installing mine for some time. When I do it will be a brake/suspension festival.

4runner brakes and master cyl, extended braided SS hoses, lift shackles, new bushings, castor correction, greasable bolts.

Big weekend.

Sounds like my upcoming week except without the brake upgrade ( I just got ss brake lines) but I got to take the spring packs apart insert the new leaf and paint them, new shackles, pins (all greasable), poly bushings, shocks so its going to be an interesting suspension festival

Just completed my OME lift and found that eventhought it's only 2.5"-3.0" and running stock wheels I had to install the extended rear brake line and realign the bracket that onlds the rear brake breather like. I didn't however replace the other lines because they didn't seem to need it right away, but I do have the extended lines incase I need them.

I did soak all the bolts that needed to be remove 24 hours prior. The use of the impact wrench was the ticket, no torch needed on my end.

However I did not realize that the sway bars needed to be extened, does that apply for the OME Heavy Duty Lift. Sorry for high jacking.

Best of luck.

I'm no expert but I have heard if you lift your cruiser more than 2 inches you'll wanna extend the sway bars. I thought the ome kit came with sway bar links

better put u-bolts on that list...there is a good chance you'll snap the old ones when ya take em off.

I bought the reversed u bolts kit from man e fre for $300 and I love them. I used a lift and then axel stands to hol the u bolt plates in place while I tightened the nuts. Worked very well. Look at my pics under my thread "12 hours later"

Oh, by the way I did get the sway bar extensions. Is it possible to extend the rears?

To extend the rears you have to get a different kind of extension apparently sor.com sells them. I'm just going to fabricate mine using the existing ones
