Well, I had a small breakdown on the way to Surf and Turf ....

But, with the help of friends, completed road repairs ... only had to pull the dizzy out twice,set the dwell by eyeball, set the timing by ear, was lucky to not lose any parts when I disassembled the dizzy ... and had a great weekend!

I am sure Jerome would agree that we didn't have a choice to stop along the freeway. The funny thing was, I started stopping becasue I saw a FJ40 dead on the side of the road. It wasn't until I got closer that I saw that it was you.I am just happy that you got back on the road and had a good trip. Worst case, we would could have trailered you to camp and had the old dizzy in my garage overnighted to you.

I still can't believe other cruiser heads just kept driving on by.

It wasn't as fun this year with the FJ Cruiser, but, auhem..."Like a virgin, touched for for the very first time...like a virrrr-rrrrrgunnnn, touch for the very frist time......" Even though the Virigin sticker(s) came off, I nailed it to the wall in my garage. I never saw the back street boys sticker and thoght Cacy was high when he referenced them. It must have fallen off before I saw it.
 
I didn't say you were high. I thought you were acting high because you were calling us back street boys and talking about my sun glasses. I had no idea what you were talking about and I never saw that sticker so since you were saying strange things I said you were acting high .... not that you were actually high .
 
My SnT experience was not getting vacation on thursday and friday as planned. I got off work around 4:30pm Friday. I went out to air the tire on my tow from 50 psi up to 65 psi since I was going to be towing my FJ40.5. I noticed up the valve stem was a bit cracked. Hmm. I filled up the passenger side rear and then the driverside rear. The driverside rear wheel valve stem blew off while filling. All the valve stems were shot. I will say they were defective since they were replaced right before Calico Run.

Who has replacement valve stems at 5:15pm on a friday night? Tractor Supply in Tulare. LOL

I get a call from JimmyT that he is having problems on top of Questa Grade. I call a few guys who are already at SnT and F/2F carry parts. No answer. I call Cacy and let him know what is going on. James orders a 3 wire alternator since his is getting wiggy on him. I only have one 3 wire but four - 2 wire and three GM alternators. LOL

I run to Tractor supply and find they have valve stems but not the ones I need. They would be great in a lawnmower but not on a tow rig.

I get a call from a buddy who is in Nipomo who needs some stuff.

Come back home and decide to drive my FJ 40.5. Unload it off the trailer and load everything in it and head towards Hanford to pick up parts at JimmyT's house.

I make it as far as the Wood Lake turn off. No Brakes. In my hurry to leave, I forgot to release the parking brake and smoked the rear brake pads. LOL

I head back home. I call JimmyT but can't hear him for squat. I hear "Budking" and "FJrome" are with him and he is rolling down Hwy 101 but that is it.

I throw all repair / trail spare stuff in the wifes vehicle and head out.

I call Budking and found that everybody made it to camp. I call JimmyT and get directions to his house and pick up the parts that his wife picked up earlier.

I head to SnT. I get to CVC Camp at Midnight. I call MeGolpher since nobody is around. I drop the parts in the back of his mini. Everybody is out on the Dunes. I catch a ride with a Ranger in an H1 Hummer and head out to the campfire we stop two people on the way there. One for driving with no lights and the other for having about 6 guys in the back of his truck. None of these were with the SnT group.

I see a few friends and hang out at the campfire for about 10 minutes. i caught a ride back to my wifes vehicle. I headed to Nipomo. I replaced some burned alternator wiring on a rig and told my buddy to leave his 4 off road light off.

By this time it is 4:am. I decided to head back home with the plan to fix the brakes on the FJ40.5 and head back over. I get home and pick up a set of brake shoes on the way. Wrong shoes.

At this point I realize it was not meant to be that I attend SnT.

How many hints does a person need.

Same thing happened to my F150. There was a bad batch of valve stems sent to the US, like a million of them and they all cracked and split. I think there is an article in Peterson's about it. If anyone has replaced valvestems in the last 4 years, I would check them. NEw ones are OK

I grabbed some video of rigs jumping but I need to figure out how to splice them all together
 
Just an update on my cousin with the jeep. We pulled the axle shaft and turns out it was bent. I reminded him about looking for a 44 but he thought it sounded like more work than it was worth to him. He ended up ordering some alloy shafts and we're going to replace both sides.
 
well worked my butt off in oct on the rig...test ride bald with dusty....only to have electrical bugs...thanks for your help dan...
