Any one else have a super charger, please give me you opinion on performance, etc.

Ben Swain (Now at Slee I believe) set up his 91/92 FJ80 with a one off custom turbo on the 3FE and that thing would put you back in the seat. He had a custom lift (8" or so) and big meats, but that baby would move. If I hadn't taken a ride (back in 2000), I would not have believed that a 3FE could move that fast without falling off a cliff. A turbo on a 1FZ would therefore be scary fast. I imagine that his well qualified influence with Slee make a turbo a good option vs. the supercharged route. I would personally give the turbo serious consideration if I hadn't had a 300hp Chevy put in my 92. Ben tried to talk me out of this years ago, but it's easy to work on and parts are easily available without the 2 day wait from the local Toyota guys. Talk to Slee, he'll steer you straight. No affiliation, etc. etc.

Will do, thanks guys

Is the LC S/C on its 1st generation still?

The 400hp s/c and engine longetivity comment got me thinking about Fords (I know). The International diesel in the SD's went from 7.3L to 6.0L between 02 and 03(something close to that at least). They up'ed the boost on the turbo to put out the same if not relatively better numbers with a considerably smaller V8. Guess what... I hear they are having problems with some of them now. Whenever you start pushing a motor harder you are going to shorten its life to some extent. Going to a bit of an extreme but if you think this isn't true look at NHRA top fuel cars sometime, they rebuild (more or less) the engine between every single run and this is quarter mile racing. Some of the guys over on TTORA have spent thousands to get their 3.4L s/c motors to run like they should and obviously to an extent better depending on how deep into the land of fuel mods they went. Supra fuel injectors, etc, etc. Look at www.gadget.com for an example of how "deep" one guy went. I know the 3.4L V6 S/C had some issues with "nose cone" oil leaks, and (still) have trouble running "well" with the stock injection, they have pinging etc issues. A lot of people have them and a lot added them later in the life of the motor like people on here. Only 1 guy that I know of has blown his motor and it is because he is a moron and beat the hell out of it.

The methanol injection is new to me though, I would be interested in hearing more about that.

This is a ramble sorry, hope it helps some...

My general thought is if engine longetivity and gas mileage/cost are at the top of your list I would think a s/c would be a bad idea for some obvious reasons that have already been stated. I like turbos better, also.

super charging hypocondriacte ! (?spelling)

I'm thinking I might as well rebuild my head while I'm doing the head gasket to prepare for the supercharger as well as fushing the cooling system, replacing the radiator and replacing the fan clutch.............Anyone have a opinion on this ? (150000 miles) thanks everyone all the replies really help!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS any one rebuilt there head ? How much $$ ?

There are archive posts on Cruiserdan's methonol injection. I think MTS (Mike) and Photoman (Bill) have also installed similar systems.
