I'm inspired by @100seriesguy 's post on the stuck sunroof and another conversation with a friend who is into Land Rovers to ask this question. Does anyone know if there is a permanent sunroof replacement available for the 100 series? What I mean is, is there a way to completely seal the sunroof (using either glass or a metal plate solution of some sort) and eliminate the opening/closing mechanism?
Last year I had a chance to visit the Campteq headquarters in Colorado and noticed they had a stack of 80 series and 100 series sunroof assemblies stacked against a wall (it gets eliminated with their camper conversion). I was very surprised at how heavy the entire mechanism was, and it made me think about my question above.
Apparently there is a solution for Range Rovers that replaces the sliding/tilting mechanism with a permanently mounted glass or a lightweight aluminum panel, and II was wondering if anyone made something like this for Land Cruisers? I wouldn't mind shedding 80-100+ lbs. off the vehicle from something I never use, especially from the top of the vehicle. Not a priority, of course, but something good to have.
