well i hope you guys have fun. I just road my truck about 40 miles with no problems like i was having before. woo hoo!

Any sunday afternoon work parties coming up to get ready for the crawl?

What do you have to do to it? Chris said we could do it any Sunday.

Later,

i am a little worried about the overwhelming smell of gasoline whenever I drive it. Also, i would like my brakes checked out before i got out on a long road trip. They pull pretty bad to the side when i brake hard.

Anything else i am not smart enough to notice also needs checking out...which is alot.

I have that problem too. I'm planning on pulling the front discs and either having them ground at a machine shop or just getting some new ones.

i can't find any leaks. There used to be one on the carb. but that doesn't seem to be leaking anymore. I also just replaced most of the fuel lines and fuel filters. It could be running rich...i will check that out.

let me know what you end up doing with the brakes. Are those hard to replace on your own?

I'll most likely just buy new rotors and install. Never done it before, but it doesn't look that complicated from the manual. Looks like it might be the right time to go ahead and rebuild the knuckles:

You might have a leaking gas tank. I patched mine years ago and have never had a problem since. Barry, if your truck is pulling then it might be a caliper. Changing the rotors might not help. Enlist Greg on this diagnosis.

Later,

the symptom incudes a wobble. I assumed that was what a warped rotor felt like. Any thoughts?

Wobble = warped rotor. You might be able to have the turned if they aren't too bad. Orileys does this.

Check Carquest for a price on the rotors, Talk to Pat 601-932-7444

They may not be much more than turning some rotors that are already below specs. They may not be Toyota quality rotors but should be much less expensive. I know many believe in only a Totoya boxed part.

If you get your rotors off I have a brake rotor micrometer that can measure rotor thickness.

I bet the way you drive yours off road and love to run the rapids that your rotors will be VERY warped and will not be able to turn.

I wouldn't waste time getting them turned. I bet they will have to be replaced.

Just my $.02

thanks for the tip. ordered rotors, calipers and pads this morning from Carquest.
I'll see about the knuckle rebuild kit from TPI.
