Was cleaning up some things to move into the pole barn soon and found these black & white photos from 1975 . I was 22 years old and decided to write a story for Four Wheeler Magazine regarding the local four-wheelin‘ activities about a logging road trip I went on with a few northern Vermont locals….
These “ dukes of hazard” type guys were really into this “jeepin’ “ as they called it. A Toyota Land Cruiser was an unlikely vehicle to be seen at the time let alone make it thru one of their expeditions. With lots of teasing about the “Toyoti” as they called it, it turned out 2 Jeeps had broken down and the land cruiser came to the rescue pulling them out.
Many of these guys are probably gone now but they were truly a bunch of fun-loving very small town characters. Hope you enjoy some flash back memories. They only girl in one of these photos was my blind date…. We’ve been together 47 years.
The stain in the upper right corner of the letter is from the paper clip that was rusting away.
EDIT: just realized the letter was written on a TYPEWRITER ! Haven’t seen that in decades
This arrow was found along this logging road…
read a post about how many footman loops are on the early land cruisers…. Here’s a new and stock land cruiser with 2 on the door and 3 on the tub
