We recently purchased a 2005 Caravelle 187, mainly to avoid renting one on an upcoming Lake Powell trip. We had buffed, and waxed the exterior and just finished cleaning the deck. My wife and I were standing behind the boat (not on it) when we heard a loud bang. The curved windshield on the boat had shattered. It had a hole a bit bigger than a golf ball in it. First thought was someone shot a BB gun at it but we did not find anything.
Anyway, called the manufacturer and they are shut down. The manufacturer of the windshield no longer makes windshields. Found someone back east (brief search) who would make a Plexiglas one for $1800 and a glass replacement for... wait for it... $5,000 to $6,000 plus shipping and crating
! And we thought Land Cruisers were expensive!
The insurance company will cover the loss but, they do not have the resources/contacts I thought they would and is leaving it up to me to take care of the repairs myself. Does anyone know of a place to get this done?
