LH, the two connector housings are immediately above the starter. You can see them in the photo in Post #16.

These two connector housings join the engine and transmission harnesses. They are susceptible to internal corrosion because they are immediately below the pesky heater hose and when it leaks/breaks, it sprays coolant on them.

Thank you very much for this write up and pics. I am waiting for my TPS to arrive then will definitely have to check out my wiring next. I just had a rebuilt motor and trans put in.
Originaly my trans was not going into lockup. And now it's "erraticly" shifting in and out of lockup and som gears between 18-25mph/ 35-45mph and 50-60mph
If your trans is freshly rebuilt, then that should take solenoids, fluid, filter, and friction plates off the table. I’ll bet you a gas station burrito it’s a speed sensor wire or the solenoid wires outside the trans..

What's funny before I had all this rebuilt my gauge cluster shorted out blew the fuse had to replace my speed sensor and I put in fresh wires for the speed sensor I guess I didn't know there's two speed sensors quite possibly only replace one of them I know the guy who did the swap on the motor and tranny said he refreshed some wires up underneath there because the transmission shop said it's possible that a wire was grounding out on the transmission and caused my overdrive to not lock up

Sounds like you have more than one problem...

I am happy to report that I was able to replace my TPS w/out having to take my intake manifold off like the mechanic told me had to be done. I am also more then ecstatic to report that the TPS has solved my erratic shifting issues. Case closed on to the next adventure!
