So my grandson complaining that the rear subwoofer sounding like a squealing pig. I finally decided that I’ll change it after watch a FAQ link video on Pyle Car Vehicle Subwoofer Audio Speaker - 6.5 dual 4 ohm PLPW6D. Best ebay deal is $150 for a used JBL OEM so for $25 it’s a good deal but the labor modifications project going take me probably whole day so I like to invest in a slightly better one although my radio is just OEM stock speakers with the CD and cassette combo. Chatting with Crutchfield, they recommend Kicker subwoofer, never heard of this brand before just thought I would check with you guys before pulling the trigger.
While I’m there, any suggestion on speakers JBL 602 vs others? Thanks!

I recently refoamed mine, and it now sounds as new. Im guessing your squeal is not foam related?

I haven’t taken the panel off yet, but I figure its almost a quarter century old now so there must be better subwoofer out there worthy of upgrade. Checking on parting out posts, none available most blown by the seam. I think I’ll just take a chance on this Kicker, will report back and kind of looking forward to it. Hope it doesn’t domino & go crazy into a full stereo speaker upgrade tho lol.

Yeah, as far as I know there is not a direct replacement available and it will either require a slightly deeper speaker or custom work.

Yeah, Brady Adventure did a great video on FAQ, but that was 8 years ago. The subwoofer is small and shallow 6.5x2.9” so few were available. This Kicker is 6.75x2.75” Crutchfield is good but not always correct, still available OEM at $600!
