Stupid question/help: How the heck do you mount a RTT to a rack?

I guess i am kinda dealing with a chicken before egg thing here...So here goes. I have had a Hannibal rack and picked up a gently used Hannibal tent yesterday and threw it up on the rack to get it home. I bought it off a Rover guy who had the ladder that attach's to the bullbar/ARB bumper which was kinda the path i wanted to go down anyway. So, that said how to i actually bolt the tent down to the rack ? I guess my question/dilemma is that in order to bolt it down it has to be open (i assume) and how to I open it (safely) without it being bolted down and without it flying off the rack and onto my hood. My next question is even if i do open it, attach the ladder to my bumper, is is safe to climb up the ladder and not have the whole thing come flying down?

Any RTT gurus that can lend some advise ?

you sure it has to be opened up to be bolted down? seems odd...

if it has to be, you could put a support under the opened up part? Just use a long 2x4 across and some side supports like these HF I posted on a while back or a couple of ladders?

or just open it to less than vertical and it should stay up there no?

but I'm not sure why it's better to be over the hood anyway if you have a long enough ladder to be on the side or rear. Why do you want to do that?

There should be under side rails on the tent floor with a channel. You should not have to open any tent on the market to mount it. But im not positive on how that particular tent attaches. Email Dan at Hannibal USA and he can most likely explain what needs to be done. dan.randle@hannibalsafari.com He's really good about customer service.

Yep, i have been talking to Dan off and on re: this and a couple of things i need for my rack. Anyhow, he appears to be "new" to the Hannibal line and wasn't real sure how to mount it, if that makes sense....He said they typically take the rack off of the truck, drill holes and mount the tent and then place everything back up top....Sounds kinda like a PITA to me. I might try just opening it up, hope for the best and drill some hole and bolt the thing down.

The ladder it came with only mounts to the front ARB bumper....

I've done that before with the 1st GEN Mombasa. It was hairy getting the tent to sit up there. Had to drill some plates to hold it, then i drilled through the floor. There wasn't really any other way for me to do it on my INTI.

Yep...I am out of town again on busines but hope to carve out some time on Satruday to figure it out....
