anybody ever run stubbs sliders?
Rocksliders
they are out of susanville CA

i really like the ideas he has for the new HD-SKO slider. they are a little longer than the convention and have a kickout in the rear.
Anybody run them?
is this guy still around?

Thanks
Bryan

sent the guy an email. he replied so he seems to be in business still.
I asked him a couple questions about the sliders specific to my vehicle.

if everything looks good i will probably order a set and let you guys know how they work out.

I've gotta set of the square/round type on an 85 ext truck. I had him change it a little for me... beautiful welds, shipped on time, great service. Did have one small issue with one of the legs landing on the curve of the frame but Stubbs took care of it. First class guy! Made it right and I'd buy again from him, no question. Beefy, 1st class stuff!!

Nice price for the standard. They're all weld on, which might be a turn off for some. Don't know of anyone running them, though. Thanks for the link!

yeah, i am going to make mine removable so i will have to modify them a little.

maybe he would be up for doing it for me, now that i see some of these posts.

I'd rather them be weldable.
Holes drilled in the frame stretch and tear, bolts snap. Welds can be undone by a skilled welder.

I am planning on slitting the tubes and welding in a large vertical section of plate. then welding 90 degree brackets onto the frame on both sides of said plate and then bolting through them on in a giant sandwich style mount.

this will load the bolts in shear instead of tension. (1 grade 8 half inch bolt in single shear is good to about 15000 pounds. i plan on using a few per leg)

so it should be good.

this will allow me to remove them if they get bent or just need a paint job. or when i get around to painting my truck they can come off.

also, if i sell the truck the new owner has the option of removing them all together if they dont like them. (thats a little bit of a stretch though as i dont plan on selling it):)

Okay, that sounds alot better than just slapping them onto the frame.
I look forward to the install.

yeah i thought about it for a while and that was the most effective thing i could think of.

whenever i hear back from him, and if he says he would ship them without the plates welded on the end (which i dont see why he wouldnt, less work for him) i will probably order them shortly after.

Whenever I think of bolt-on sliders, I think of that Smittybilt junk that bolts into the spring hangers.
There's no force on earth that could get me to own such an abomination.

Yeah, Stubbs will work with ya, you just have to communicate what you want...

There was a heck of a thread over on TTORA about the weld vs bolt on debate. CBI also makes a bolt on slider that you might look at.

Good luck and post up what ya build! :D
