it has got me started on looking at finding a replacment rust free landcruiser from down south , i found an extremley clean 60 but it was all ready sold . the thing is i can buy a full locked 80 series for 7 to 9 grand the prices down that way are so low compared to up here , i even saw 100 series for $17,000 thats what the importers up here are asking for a beat up lx450.

has any one here any first hand info for bringing one of these up here ?

Any vehicle you bring in has to be on the list from Transport Canada. It's a 3 day wait at the border unless you get them the details 3 business days ahead of time (VIN number) to ensure it is not stolen. You'll pay duties and taxes as you cross the border (that's right, there really is NO free trade unless it's produced in Canada, USA or Mexico even though it has already had taxes and duties paid when it arrived from Japan) then you get it registered and inspected for safety and I think that's about it.

Talk to Semlin. Or search his posts on importing. He pretty informed.

Read threads in the FAQ on importing in the diesel section.

All Land Cruisers meet the RIV requirements.

Definitely good deals down south. Definitely worth buying a used cruiser.

A used 100(year 2000) sells for less than 15k usd right now. It can sell in Canada for high 20s....

You need a print out from the dealer saying it has no recalls etc. All the info is easy to find on the riv website.
