Want to upgrade to a stronger alternator, meaning at least 100 amp. Would like to get one that just bolts right in, maybe a mean green. This is for a 79 fj40 with a stock alternator. Thanks.

I replaced my 30amp for a 65amp. It was the biggest I could go and still have the same size alternator. If I went with a higher amperage the Alternator was actually a bigger frame size and some fab work would have to happen.
I was looking at the Mean Green but could not justify it. I heard mini tractor alternators are crazy powerfull and ultra small. The one on my 29hp Kubota is a little bigger than one of Heinekin Keg cans. It is something like 80amp.

Big Alternator

I have a high amp alternator setup on my 60 that I am parting. It is a year old and one of the expensive models the guys with fancy stereo systems buy. Funny on my keeper 1979 FJ40 I have a blank plastic plate where the radio is and no electric winch. So I don't need it.

I would sell it for $50 plus the ride to Alabama from Spokane, WA 99203. Otherwise I would just keep it as my spare in case I start playing with stereo systems again or buy a beefy winch.
