Hi folks,
Hope you've had a nice weekend.
2004 100 series, 1HD FTE, out of the blue has started making a bit of a squeaking noise at low speed (under 10MPH), happens once I've been driving for a few minutes and start off slowly or manoeuvring.
The sound starts as a continuous high pitched squeal/squeak and then starts increasing as the vehicle speed increases until it just stops just before 10MPH.
It will happen when I'm driving straight or turning.
The car has had all bushes, ball joints and bearings replaced, plus CV, diff mounts, brake discs etc, all with OEM in the last 8K miles.
I've jacked up the right side (where the sound is coming from) and checked the wheel for play, all feels good from what I can tell. It also spins freely too from what I can tell.
I don't know if it's a coincidence but I'm going to mention this too:
When braking to come to a stop, I've noticed a feeling of what can only be described as surges in the braking, where it feels as though there is something coming in and out causing the braking effort to change. The car doesn't increase in speed or anything as a result, just feels a bit weird.
It doesn't feel like warped discs like I've had before on other cars (lots of vibration etc)
The fact it doesn't do it the squeal/squeak all the time is a positive I think, just want to figure out possibilities.
My gut is telling me maybe something to do with the pads/caliper/anti squeal clips etc.
Can anyone help vindicate me?
Thanks!
