Perhaps my googling skills are lacking, but I haven't seen this issue. My '01 Land Cruiser starts and runs normally with the two keys that I have for it. The thing is, the immobilizer display never lights when I put the key in and the alarm doesn't work at all. The remote lock/unlock functions normally. The panic switch on the remote does nothing. I have verified that the horn on the right side of the engine compartment works if you put power to it. The key in ignition buzzer works properly. All door and hatch switches seem to be functioning properly. I have checked all fuses, it they check OK.

Has anyone else seen this behavior? I _thought_ that I had seen the key symbol dimly light when I first got the truck a year or so ago, but I may be mistaken.

The Immobilizer/ security light blinks when no key is in the ignition.
I’m curious if you roll down the driver window lock all the doors then manually unlock the door from the inside to see if the alarm is triggered once you open a door?

I had broken/ worn insulation on the wires between the driver door and cowl. My alarm would sometimes trigger opening that door after a quick fill up without locking the door! it was pretty annoying, if I hit the unlock button several times while opening the door it wouldn’t!

I’d suggest inspecting the wiring harness going to the driver door for broken wires.

I had to repair my speaker wire, door courtesy light, master unlock switch and key cylinder unlock and lock wire.

The immo/security light never lights. I have redone the door harnesses on the driver and right rear doors and inspected the other door and hatch when I redid the sound system and they looked OK. I never hear anything from the alarm. Courtesy lights work fine. It is like there is no immo or alarm in the truck. The lock and unlock functions are inconsistent from the remote. I always hear some door lock and unlock, but not always all of them and it isn't consistent which will or won't work. I was going to pull the lock/unlock relays to check them. That doesn't seem to be related, but I do know that you always fix the issue you know of first. The truck does have 350k on it, and I have gone through a bunch of the systems already including replacing the bulbs and switches in the climate control panel. I did test the immo/security LED (like physically removed and tested) and it is OK. Other than the weird immo/alarm behavior and the random lock/unlock issue, everything else seems to work properly.

Interesting. I have a no communication in Immobilizer system code on mine but I’d never known without the code (no issues experienced)

I’ll dig in my repair manual later on to get a diagram for you. From my memory there’s an ecu near the radio I believe is what receives the fob signals and controls the alarm. I’m thinking that might be the next place to look as well.

My LX had a leaky windshield so I have a host of failing electrical gremlins.
