I need new stock length shocks for my 55 project, and I'm going the cheap route for now, and I need to know the length of shocks to get...my Pig currently doesn't have any shocks on it for me to measure. I may lift it an inch or so with some shackles, but they still should work. I may just go to Advance or auto zone and get some cheap replacements. anyone have a part number that they used to get shocks?

Thanks

You will need to jack the frame of the truck up till it just lifts the axle. measure between the shock mounting bolts at the axle and the frame. This is you extended length. Next, set the rig back down on the springs, an measure between where the bumpstop will hit the axle and the bumpstop and subtract one inch. Keep this number...next measure between the shock mount points w/ rig at ride height. Now subtract your bumpstop measurement from the ride height value and that will be your compressed length. With a compressed and extended length, you can shop for whatever brand/style of shock fit your dimensions. HTH. ps. I used doestch tech shocks.
