I was all over this when I saw it on your page, in fact I was half packed and ready to go. that was a week ago, now looking at the forecast me thinks me gonna stay at home in the nice warm bed.
High:28 Low:18 buurrrr! And no heat in the open truck
So... Plan B--go pick up a front axle for the mini, Yippee!
I hear ya man . I think we may rename this the stlca "freeze your balls off " ride. We'll try to do this trip again in the spring when the weather is more suitable for city folksI was all over this when I saw it on your page, in fact I was half packed and ready to go. that was a week ago, now looking at the forecast me thinks me gonna stay at home in the nice warm bed.

Alrighty, this is just the first piece to the puzzle. Picked up an axle from a 1980 mini complete hub to hub yesterday for $150, even has the 3rd member correctly geared for what I'm running right now.
I plan to attach the axle using F150 springs for both F&R (gettin' those on Saturday) and will probably be forced to go hi-steer. Once that's all figured out and functioning then a locker for the front axle and $$ permitting even re-gearing to 4.88 but that might have to wait.
The longer term plan is to go 35's and dual cases, they seem to be popular these days and reasonably cheap. I still need to retain the street ability of the truck but build a more capable offroader.
Excellent...... I figured something was up....you need to revive your build thread or start one on your truck as it seems all quiet on the western front here....
How long is it gonna take? Probably less time than my bumper build....![]()
