Still leaks after axle rebuild

It looks like the passenger side is leaking. The driver's side looks pretty good (though there was a single drip of gear oil on the tire).

That may be the case, here, too. Last I checked the drips had stopped somewhat; I am going to drive and monitor and see what happens to the levels in the diff. I was pretty sure it was filled per FSM instructions.

Is there enough room to put 2 seals in the housing? Could one take a OEM seal and cut off some or half of the metal ring of the seal and install that into the housing and then install a second seal on top of the other seal? Just a thought...

I still dont understand how grease from the birf can enter the axle and contaminate the gear oil but not leak out past the seal into the birf??? I have a free flowing filter inplace of the breather.

Mine is leaking on driver side, same before doing reseal. Haven't pull the axle to check but everything was perfect before reinstall so I m stump. Will check the breather hose and this thread for fix. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure it does leak both ways.

Pat

I get grease in the gear oil but no gear oil leaks out the axle end. When I open the diff filler plug, oil leaks out. I let it flow till it doesn't flow out and over time it is over full again. I drained it oil several times and it get grease contaminated over time.
