Update: Resolved. TLDR; it was the amp, even tho diagnostics showed the amp as having no trouble codes.

Original post: I'm not able to hear any music from my stereo (CD/Cassette/AM/FM/AUX) and only hear a repetitive light pop sound coming from my speakers. It sounds almost exactly like the end of a vinyl record how it just keeps popping after the song ends. It does this if the audio system is on or off. This is the Mark Levinson system on my '04 LX 470.

I can see all functions on my screen fine, and when switching between the CD, tape, and stereo they look like they're working with tracks counting, volume indicator showing, etc., just no actual music comes out. My climate nav, etc., all works fine.

I have the Grom setup that's an AUX-in only, no head modifications and have had this for several years. I can't switch to the AUX by hitting the disc button however, so unsure if this is somehow a Grom issue or a head unit issue. Is it the amp?

If have a way to easily do it I would check your battery. I had this happen a few years ago and the next morning it wouldn’t start. Replaced the battery and everything worked fine and no problems since. However, I can’t remember if I had the popping sound you describe.

If it's the amp, check out modulemechanics.com, they might be able to help. No affiliation, but they do have a lot of vehicle electronics.

Thank you all, I did check my battery and it's only at 12v instead of 14v where they like to sit so may start there. Have been doing some short sporadic drives lately so might even start with a long cruise, and replace it if needed.

I tried to check for any codes in case the amp would show one, but my code reader is wifi and not connecting. Will get codes read. I know there's amp posts so I will see what some other signs of a failing amp is.

I did check that suggested website but they only had keys for the LX.

Appreciate all the help so far!

Battery reset and changing the amp fuse didn't have any effect so I'm going to do the on-screen code read and also assume I need the amp repaired, and will report back on findings as I go. I know rarely the head unit has been a failure for some folks instead of the amp.

This is the result of my diagnostic earlier. One thing w the CD is I have the basic plug and play Grom unit that allows for me to connect a 1/4 AUX for music, and does nothing else. I recall that I select that by tapping the CD button on the head unit a second time. When my issue first started I had been listening to music, a call came through over the factory bluetooth, and when I hung up from the call there was no music and just that electronic tick every second and a half.

I’m wondering if the Grom maybe went out since it’s selected via the CD changer selections?

Otherwise anyone had this exact indicator?

Putting a pin in this one, it was the amp. It took me a while to get around to installing a used amp I sourced but everything is back in order. Mainly I want others who might have the diagnostic screen imply that the amp is fine to know that wasn't the case for me.

Interestingly I was thinking it might be my CD player or head unit based on a Reddit post that had a similar failure and their amp showed and tested as good, but after feeding my symptoms and the way the stereo was acting into AI, it told me the sound I was hearing was the amp trying to boot up over and over again every few seconds. I doubted this was the case but it turned out to be true. Score one for AI diagnosis.
