Hey guys,

I installed a JVC KW-XR610 into my '97 LX450 to replace the factory stereo which worked fine (including the changer) but had a bunch of buttons burned out.

I bought it from Crutchfield, and bought the Amp harness to use the factory Amp and subwoofer........it was relatively simply to install, but whenever I turn the vehicle on now (with the stereo left on), I get a loud POP from the speakers, and I can also hear some slight "hum" through the speakers once the vehicle is running......sounds like interference from a "dirty" or unfiltered power lead to the stereo.

The factory speakers are all shot. I need new ones. I really don't want to make this a HUGE project, but how should I go about re-wiring this system to alleviate this problem, while putting new speakers in???

Thanks, Ben

Does the "amp harness" connect to the speaker outputs of the new deck? (sorry too lazy to do the research myself) If so, it is amplifying the signal twice (once in the deck, then reduced by the adaptor, then re amplified by the factory amp) This can cause additional noise as any distortion the new decks amp generates is amplified by the factory amp in addition to the noise the factory amp generates.

Thanks, I can't remember, I believe it does. I talked to Crutchfield last night and they said I need to purchase 2 isolators for the inputs. :))

The noise/hum is a gain problem between the new decks amplified output and the existing amplifier. Filters aren't helping you here - you need matched gain.

The pop is the decks amp turn on without muting the outputs.

I would run the amplified outputs from the deck to the speakers by passing the lx 450 amplifier. It will sound worlds better. Better yet an aftermarket 5 channel amplifier.
