Im mating a Metra 70-1761 "to car" harness to the Alpine iDA-305 harness.

The dimmer lead on my alpine iDA-X305 harness is a single wire - I'm assuming I mate this to the dimmer +ve wire on the Metra "to car" harness and it's grounded internally in the stereo chassis ?

Also looking at the FWM it looks like I need to snip the "loopback" blue lead on the "to car" harness as it's looping the power antenna output from the radio harness to the remote turn on wire.

Incidentally - I'm sitting here soldering up a harness for a truck I've yet to lay eyes on - it arrives from So Cal in 2 weeks :D

This is my first LC and my first car that's not all about going around corners as fast as I can - should be an interesting experience.

'97 LC if that matters...

Oh and :flipoff2:

yes, wire the alpine single dimmer wire to the + dimmer wire on the toyota. don't use the dimmer ground wire, itll mess things up.

also, loop the wire back on the remote on, yes. mine had something similar done already on the metra harness i used

Cheers for the fast response - all soldered up and ready to go.

Just need the cruiser now ;)

I dont think one of the dimmer wires is needed. I hooked up one on mine for my Eclipse and when I turn my dimmer knob down the radio display brightens and dims-the lower I turn the knob the quicker it does it. Now I have to keep the interior lighting all the way up till I can pull the radio and cut the wire.

Maybe it's because my radio has built in dimmer/illumination controls.

you connected the dimmer ground. I am not totally sure how it works, but this is the symptom you get when you connect that wire to an aftermarket radio w/ dimmer built in. i read all about this before I installed mine (alpine 9833, dimming works perfectly)

Oh well, not a big deal. Ill clip it this week when I pull the dash apart for something else.
