I have a problem with my steering. When I am driving it seems i have some amount of play in the steering which doesnt feel nice when driving. I had the mechanic check everything and cone up the steering box a bit. Some of the play came out but it feels slack still. I know the universal joints in the steering column needs to change but thats a minor play. when i turn the steering to the left it feels a little tighter than when i turn it to the right. when the steering is straight it feels extra light. If i wiggle the steering you can see the wheels move also. So im wondering what else may cause this as i am trying to avoid having to take off the box and pulling it.

Ball joints and trailing arm joints, it sounds like. Mine was so bad I could shake it around in the joint. Make sure you get the right part numbers though. Mine were difficult, since the steering arm tube had been flipped end for end by a previous owner to make it work after a dent.

Panhard rod bushings make a big difference. Also the kingpin bearings in the knuckles. Make sure your wheel bearings are not loose also.

If you have a lift, you might need castor correction bushings.

thanks for the replies. ill get them all checked and see if any of those make a difference. @GTSSportCoupe i checked to see if my wheels bearings needed coning and im not running any lift at all. Ill have them check the kingpin bearings though
