Steering Damper

My steering damper has gone bad and im trying to source one locally. I got the part number for my build 1990 fzj70 using the chassis number from the front end donor Toyota dealer gave me the part number 45700-69125 but when I called my local parts place they said they have never stocked that part number before but have for the fj71 with the part number 45700-69135. So im wondering if there is much difference between the two dampers and if it will work and bolt up same way?

If you google the toyota P/N you were given you will get a number of hits from ebay sellers.
Looking thru the listings you should get a list of vehicles its compatible with.
Use that list to goto your local reseller and look for one that fits.
Or just order thru ebay?
Can you take your old one into the local parts place to compare?
Or do they order in...

The 45700-69135 is for a Toyota Coaster bus according to my parts diagram, however it may work.
To my knowledge, all the leaf sprung 6* and 7* series use the same damper and this is the part number 45700-69025. And some Toyota Coasters are also using that number
There is another number for vehicles without power steering.

A large online dealer in Australia has this on his ebay page, so it must fit coil sprung steering also

Hello,

45700-69125 is good for model years 1990 through 2006.

45700-69135 is good for earlier model year (pre-1990) Land Cruisers and Coaster buses.

You might want to use an aftermarket damper, such as ARB. Model SD24 fits 70 Series Land Cruisers.

I ended up taking the bad damper to my local parts place and matched it up with the coaster damper and it really was the same thing. I bought it and installed it and have no problems with it.
