I'm in the middle of the PS conversion on an 81 FJ40, the customer ordered the MAF kit.....the shaft coming out of his column is larger in diameter than the older ones so the U joint would not fit, once I sawed the shaft in 2, and removed the old box, it also has a slip and some type of swivel joint in the base of the column......so I thought, this should work as is, just connect it to the MAF shaft, so I fabbed a tube to connect them, it works, but not well, as the swivel joint in the Toy column does not like the angle and you can feel it breaking over the angle twice every revolution.....so my options are to swap in a 73-78 era column....I have several FJ55's but only one 40.....will a 55 column work?
