Took my son Andrew's truck on its first 'work day'. Since he is only fifteen, I was driving which means I 'broke it, you bought it' came up later.... see below....
The old Ford performed well until we left with our load for the Mission dump and the 2.9 developed a noticeable tick, followed 10 minutes later by the oil pressure light came on! So BCAA towed us home (talk about an easy process!). While waiting I did some research and it looks like the oil pump needs to be looked at as well as the pickup screen.
Of course, in a land cruiser, that's a one hour job, in the Ford, the whole engine has to be lifted 8-10 inches because the pan is about 1/2" above the front suspension cross member!!
Which means rad hoses, distributor has to come off, exhaust manifold, intake, etc, etc.
Andrew suggested if we're going to go to all that trouble, might as well drop a small block in there! Now we're talking!

It was great seeing the regular volunteers out again and a few new faces. To be honest I was hoping we would have had more people come out but we still managed to get a lot done. The star of the show was the big rig Aaron brought out to help out with the mess.
Interesting that it seems to be always 4 wheelers pulling out trash left by 2 wheelers
