The "free 60" won't be so free by the time I'm done.....

'85 frame and tub, 2.8L turbo diesel, 4L60E or HF55, split case/Toybox, 3.73 gears, 33" skinny's (if I can find them), interior cage, suspension seats, AutoMeter gauges, Rhino-Lined floors, 2.5" OME's, air bags in the rear, roof-top tent, shower and no telling what else.

The intent is fuel efficient daily driver that can double as overland camping rig and light wheeler.

I'll try and keep this thread updated as we go..... it'll be SLOOOOOOOOOOW tho.

Mike

I look forward to this project

10-4…can’t wait to hear about that road trip. ;) Are you setting up a ‘mudship’ to brazil?

I’ve been seeing things here and there about this motor and for a second I thought you may have overcame the sourcing aspect of this swap by finding a local (aka domestic) supplier.

I've done some hauling for an importer who is headed to Central America sometime fairly soon. He'll bring it in with the rest of his Rover stuff.... At least that's the plan as of right now. No idea on cost yet. TLC in Van Nuys also sells this motor in the Icon and is doing another FJ60 conversion for Overland Journal. OJ reported TLC would be offering the conversion parts for the 40 & 60 as a "kit" in the future....... I'm sure the import plans will change a dozen times by the time it gets here but 25 to 30 estimated mpg will be cool in a heavy pig like a 60.
