Starting Issues Again...

Are all the cables and connections good. Using a multi meter you can do a voltage drop test between two points (cable ends). Check as you crank (or attempt). Think a reading above 1.5 or 2.0 V indicates bad conductivity. Usually cables go at the connectors. Check for good ground.

Rogerthat, will go over all my grounds/connectors this weekend. Thanks for the input

Also, isn't there a main starter relay? Anyone ever had problem with theirs?

-B- has noted the likey problem areas. Check these out.

Rich has mentioned the alternator brushes as a possible source of the problem. IMO, regardless of that being your specific problem, you are best off just replacing the alternator brushes for the grand amount of $15. You're going to need to do it soon enough anyway.

I would also inspect the battery cables (both positive and negative) to be sure I had good continuity. I think Eric had posted of similar problems not too long ago wtih the pup-mobile, and it was the cables. Maybe just a brain fart too...

Nobody has mentioned the possibility of a bad/broken starter (bendix), but at worst case, that is a possibility. But I would not worry about that until/unless you eliminate these other possibilities first.

Rookie2,
I think there has been 1 person that reported a similar problem that was resolved by replacing the main ignition/starter relay. I haven't searched though.
