Starter

Time for a new start motor for the 80. Last summer I replaced the contacts as I was having to hit the starter with a hammer once in a while. It got us to this point but now it is making noise and being a problem again.

Any difference in starters? Should I go to Lordco/Napa and throw in a re-built, by new from Toyota or can you 'upgrade' a starter? I am thinking re-built will be as good as anything.

Opinions here. Thanks.

Nathan, from ASI rebuilders (Abbotsford) does an amazing job in rebuilding starters/alternators/electric motors/etc.
You can always give him a call and find out how much it would cost in comparison to a new one or an aftermarket one. He did my alternator and other than one defective out of the box regulator (which he instantly replaced and upgraded to a better one at no charge) it's working better than ever.

I would get a Toyota reman over any other (Napa ect), I have run the reman Toyota ones and never had an issue on other cars. I usually got the Toyota ones after going through the cheap NAPA/Lordco junk.

You could try replacing the contacts and plunger those are the parts that usually wear in the starter.

Licorice is good for you. You have to try double salted with a Mentos or a Mentos with licorice in it. Not only does it taste great it serves a purpose. Watch out for dutch guys eating this stuff...

In ancient China, people used licorice to enhance love and lust. The smell appears to be particularly stimulating. Alan R. Hirsch, MD, neurological director of the Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago, conducted a study that looked at how different smells stimulated sexual arousal. He found that the smell of black licorice increased the blood flow to the penis by 13 percent. When combined with the smell of doughnuts, that percentage jumped to 32.
