So my 90 3.0v6 starter started having intermittent starting issues, seemed like the solenoid was going out.
Got one from a local parts pile that had been tested, as well as one from 2ndgen here, but got impatient and went for it today.
That thing is a sonofa #$^%& to get out. Had to work through the pass wheel well to get to it, there is no room underneath due to the front axle, no room above as it is tucked under the exhaust manifold, and no room to the back due to all the hard brake lines.
Had to access everything from between the top of the a-arm and the bottom of the starter..
But, a few skinned knuckles, some serious profanity, and I am back in business...
Worse part though, I thought I would tackle the bad speedo cable with the Dorman 03205 that every part place says is compatible. That is a ridiculous project in and of itself unless you disassemble the cable.. and after all was said and done... drum roll........ the @#$%^&*( speedo head isn't the same size for the cluster and. all for nothing..
. now I need a real one to get a speedometer back.
good thing that Dorman part was only 11 bucks shipped.
Oh well, learning and wrenching, wasn't that why Saturday's were invented?
Anybody got a speedo cable laying around that works?
