I'm starting my look to find me a 80 Series for an LS swap and have a question. Of the Series 80 lineage (91-97) which years would be the right ones for an LS swap, meaning least clutter in the engine bay. Thanks.

'91 & '92 have the battery box on the passenger side. '93 - '97 have it on the driver's side. '97 - '97 with ABS have full-floating rear axles and a limited slip device in the transfer case, which I imagine could be helpful with a V8.

'91 & '92 have a fully hydraulic A440 transmission, '93 & '94 (and some '95) have the electronic A442F (not to be confused with the fully hydraulic A442F used in diesel models outside the US), and '95 - '97 use the A343F transmission.

I can't think of any other engine compartment or drivetrain differences.

Yeah then just decide what axles (SF/FF) and go from there
