seeing if anyone has the special service tool for the steering knuckle centering..
going to be building my axle soon and need this tool tool so i can center the inner axle on the seal... using new knuckles , the six stud or as trail gear calls them six shooter... so i cant just count the shims that come off ..

metro toyota wont sell me the tool.. said that tools are exclusive sale to the service department....
but i did find it online for a decent price but thought i would check here to see if there might be a chance that one of you owns this tool....

but if i cant find one to borrow... then i will buy one..

read further down the page.... there $112 for this tool...

thats what i have been quoted for it off of the same web site there talking about...

just seeing if someone on here might have one before i buy one...

ordered from spx yesterday so i should see it in the new year...

wombat is retired. crazy world we live in

got my steering knuckle center gauge today... in original toyota box...

so time to build my front axle.. six shooter knuckles and 4x4 lab steering arms..
cheaping out and welding the third...
until i can get an arb...

Yikes, IMO I strongly recommend not doing it, welded front end. It will be hard to steer plus you are increasing the stress on the birfs. Aka breakage. Better to wait till you can get an Arb.

what??? driving in town with your hubs locked...

anyways.. running chromoly birfs... and it will be alright

didnt weld the front... going to wait until i swap some parts around with the 60...
so here is the end result for now... six shooter knuckles, 4x4 lab six stud arms, ruff stuff ubolt elimanator perches
trail gear creeper kit...

Nice work Adam. Good call on not welding the front IMO.

Keep your eyes out for a tig as well.... The one I was after at Xmas time fell through.

Say hi to the family for me.

Gonna make it to a meeting or trail run soon???

You have a better picture of those steering arms and how they bolt up to factory knuckls?

I was on the phone with Luke when he first developed them and Toyota Owners Mag did a spot on them, he was having a hard time producing them as fast as they were selling.

Rob:popcorn:

my axle stand is a toyota ...

and cam will give you a call ... and i will keep an eye out for a tig for ya..

as for the steering arms.. not going to talk about it ... Luke doesnt return my calls... good customer service...

they are bolted to 6 shooter knuckles.. but i will get you a better pic..

so put the front axle under the truck today...
used the springs that came with the truck when i bought it and they are a bit of a lift on them... just wanted to see what they would look like if i left them on..
will be swapping them out with stockers to bring the height down..

here is a couple pics
