All of a sudden at 25K I'm noticing my brakes are squealing. Is it possible that the pads are due for a change? Has anyone else done any brake work? I'm typically a moderately conservative driver, I don't gas or brake more than necessary.

you've already driven 25000 miles? how long have you had your LC?

I think there is a thread Mitch started regarding having to change his rotors and pads at 24000 miles because of the extra weight added.

I definitely notice the change in brake performance now that we've added so much weight.

If you do have to change stuff out, consider what Jowett discussed about moving up to Tundra rotors. I'd love to hear how the conversion goes if you are interested in doing it. In reality, it should cost the same as having 200 rotors put on...maybe even less.

I don't see why you would have to change the rotors out after 24000 miles...pads I can see, but a complete overhaul? Seems pretty soon since I'm catching the pads as they just started squealing.

My comment was not directly referring to your case. I was just saying that Mitch had to do a complete overhaul at 24,000 I believe. We all agree that is way too early.

Well, after 25k I needed new brakes and rotors! It was mist likely the extra weight her that made it worse on the brakes, obviously.

It cost me over $700 for everything! I called Cristo to ask his thoughts, and he said that 15k out of brake pads for a loaded LC is good, so that made me feel better.

Get them checked....to avoid my mistake.

Mitch another thing to consider, other than the amount of weight you have added, is the type of driving you do and the conditions that you do it in. I spend alot of time in the dirt because of my job and the sand here in the desert is brutal on breaks. With my 100 (stock) i was changing pads every 15-18K miles.
My 200, with @ 12K miles is begining to have some break squeal. When I take it in for my next oil changes I will have the guys at Jack Stauters check the pads.
My $.02

What's the difference between Tundra and LC rotors? Just curious.

Has anyone looked into Brembo rotors/brakes?

Do they make a replacement? I don't think they do.

The big brake kit wont wont fit, plus if I am going to spend 3k per pair....bumpers are coming first!

3k a pair? My wife would shoot me for sure. I would get the bumpers first too. :steer:
