I have a 2009 LC200. Especially in hot weather, when I start the engine and the steering wheel lowers into place, there's a screeching sound. Wondering if there's a way to lubricate this, or do I need to just ignore it?

Why does the steering wheel lower into place? It should be set on one of the three presets on the door. I have a 2008 so could be something that I don't have.

Mine has two presets, for two drivers. When you start up, the steering wheel and seat both re-assume their previous positions.

It lowers into place because it automatically raises when you turn off the vehicle to the highest, farthest-forward position to make it easier to get out.

To the OP... Mine occasionally makes that sound. Pretty sure it’s the electric motor. A few months back, my driver seat forward/back motor did that for part of a day. No idea why—and it was quite annoying—but it stopped and hasn’t returned.

Mine also has the squeak. I believe the plastic gears that move the wheel into your desired setting are worn. Is there dielectric grease that can be used on them?

Mine doesn't do that. Strange.

My lx was squeaking when it retracted and was driving me crazy. I fixed it by just putting a light lubricant on the plastic surface of the steering column. Can't even remember what I used, but it worked. The plastic must have been rubbing causing the squeaking.

I’ve had that too...but if the OP is referring to what I think he is...it’s more like a squealing motor rather than a contact squeak. It’s VERY loud when it happens.
