The 78 or is it the 79 series is the longest leaf spring of any Landcruiser

I also think the 75 series is longer than a 73

Dobinsons home site gives some specs from memory

75 rear springs but you will need to move your shackle mount to suit
have a look at HANCOCKs setup on page 17 of modified 70 series thread

Also looks at the ironman website as they have all the dimensions for each leaf spring

hey guys . i was about to to ask the same Q as thommo but for the front of a 70. im fitting some super swampers tomorrow and some anti inversion 2" lift shackles. can you recommend what front leaf i should use.

Longer front springs that fit easily on a 70 series are 60 series rear springs. Join the main and wrap leaves from the rear of a 60series (or your own rear leaves - they are the same) and combine them with a 2inch lift pack for the front of a 70. The shackle angle is terrible but it gives you good flex, it maybe worth doing this and moving the mount for better results. Search for Hulsty he has done this

just want a main leaf about two/three inches longer than standard.
if i go cutting anything off i may as well move the 4 link plans ahead .

cheers Gib. can you elaberate. what do you mean by 'join the main and wrap the leaves'? with the shackle angle being terrible is it way past 90*?

IFS Hilux leaves are within ~5mm of being the same length as 73 rears from the fixed end to the pin and about 70mm longer from the pin to the shackle, with these you will need to run a 3-4'' longer shackle than stock, one problem being hilux springs are ~10mm narrower than cruiser leaves.

See the attached photos from when I trialled them, in the next few days I hope to finish off my RUF and 75 rears into my middy

interesting stuff, this isnt working out as easy as i wanted it too

i might have to put the 4 link in the rear sooner or extend the shackles to match the front:meh:

first thing is to finish painting and find some coils to get the right ride hight for the front.

Hi All:

"Thommo," consider the rear leaf packs from a Jeep XJ Cherokee. These springs are quite long. "Bustanutley" here on MUD is running those XJ rear springs on his built 40 Series.

Good luck, and post some pics of your FJ73! :D

Regards,

Alan
