I've got some small areas of surface rust on the back floor of my FJ40 (floor area between the jump seats) where the PO dropped gear and tools over 30 years. These are just places where the paint chipped and the steel is slightly brown from exposure (no "rust").

I am going to sand these little spots down to the clean steel and want to paint over them. I've got a perfect color match in a pint can for the 012 factory white paint.

Should I touch these up with my Binks Model 7 spray gun or should I dab over the spots with a small brush? It seems like the spray would look better, but I'd end up painting the whole area rather than just the spots. I've got the original paint on the 40 and want to keep it as original/collectable as possible.

Thanks--

you could cut in with a brush and paint the rest with a small air gun..........just depends on how much you are willing to prep

Use the binks model 7. Good gun, and if you are going thru that- may as well shoot the whole area imho.

Thanks; this is probably what I will do.

Since I have a single-stage paint, I am told that I need to cut it and also mix in a hardener. What is the mixture ratio for this? Any recommended brands?

ask the supplier however

I agree with the stoner from winsioun:hillbilly:
