The mileage counter stopped flipping the next wheel.
Speciically, the tenth won't turn the ones. And so on.....I have a stack of 9's that won't flip. The little arm in the wheel is worn enough that it just lacks the stiffness to get it done.

Has anyone taken that apart to give insight so I don't brake something?

It's an '82 truck with an honest 157k on it and that little arm is wore out slightly prematurely.

Thanks in advance.

The needle should pull right off. Just grab the center and pull it straight off. If its still giving you trouble you should be able to use a small screwdriver to pry up around the bottom edge, but do it in a star pattern so you dont bend the shaft.

I've taken apart several speedo's from my 2nd gen and they're not all that complicated. I would suggest finding another speedo and just roll over the odometer till it matches your truck. That might be easier than trying to fix the current one.

Thanks, that's given me enough incouragement to try the needle with more force. It looks easy enough, though it's all gear driven from one wheel to the next. Funny how the glasses clarified that.

My big project for Thursday.
