I have a 2006 with the ML Navigation system and I have a blown lower front door speaker. Finding 8 ohm speakers has been a challenge but I did come across some DS18 Pro-X69 Midrange bullet loudspeakers. With the mounting adapter you can buy and the wiring harness am I going to have a problem with the fit on these compared with the original ML ones? Also is it a big deal using these midrange speakers as a replacement for what I guess is a bass speaker? Thanks.

DS18 are a common option to replace the factory ML 6x9s, as well as SKAR and Powerbass. I have the latter and have been happy with them. I think the consensus is any of them is better than blown out old speakers lol.

i replaced one blown front door speaker with that ds-18, and tbh, i'm not all that impressed. It's good. But its more expensive than the other options, and isn't sold in pairs.

I used PowerBass 6x9s and have been very, very happy with them. They have a polypropylene code instead of a paper cone. They come with a jumper so you can wire them as either 4 ohm or 8 ohm (I of course set them up as 8 ohm speakers).

I did use both the wiring and mounting adapters as they were cheap on Amazon, but it seems easily doable without them.

Have you considered repairing the ML speakers? The cones are hard as nails and might be good.

I used these ML kit.

I repaired my speakers with the simply speakers kit. I did a thorough job but the driver side blew itself again very quickly (Wu Tang - Bring tha Ruckus). I'll be buying aftermarket speakers to replace the blown MLs this spring.

Pretty soon I'm going to replace the one DS-18 (front passenger) and ML (front drivers) with the Powerbass. Wattage peak/RMS with the PB seems much more appropriate for the ML amp.
