Well since i ripped out the rear axle of my truck do to the pre load on the side bearing getting screwed up do to gravity and the way a detroit locker center pin removal is set up ... (i put the axle back together this weekend after getting the diff preloaded and the backlash set back up)

I had sometime to work on my spare tire carrier not finished but the bumper is close and i mounted it a couple weeks ago. Thats why the pics are taken in the dark ... but the carrier i am almost complete

here is a couple pics.... first pic is of the bumper where the tire carrier is going to mount... same thing as a shackle mount... i am going to use spring bushings in the tubes...
and pics of the tire carrier... will fold down like the genright ones... might get rid of the tailgate and plate it and center mount the carrier in place... and that way i can mount my hi lift behind the tire...

good thing about the fold down is that i can bring along a piece of plywood and i will have a table when i fold down the carrier...:D

Nice work, nice welds, nice shop,i wish i had the skill and room to work like you do. It took me a while to figger out how it works but i see now your tailgate folds down so tire carrier has to fold down as well.

thanks... taking the tailgate out since the PO weld door hinges in there and painted over them and they have rusted shut...

its not that heavy ... i say the tire carrier is like 15 to 20 pounds... only Sch 40 aluminum pipe... mandrel bent... the tire is what weighs the most...

and just picked up a new toy for my garage today... 251 miller... with bottles.. :D
