Hi everyone!

I was referred to Southwest Springs near Pulaski and SW Highway for them to add leaves to the front of my 40. Yesterday I went to get the leaves added and they are the nicest people! I delt with Kevin.

They are very honest people and I just wanted to share the name with people in the Chicago area in case anyone needs work done.

I have the bumpstops, but they didn't want to weld them on because then you can't get to the nuts... There's so much clearance now it shouldn't be a problem.

But...as I was waiting for them to finish on the car, I heard some commotion...apparently the bumper that you just had tack welded (in expectation of the capped bumper being put on later) came off and hit some guy in the head. He ended up being okay, but I guess he was almost knocked out.

The springs definitely make it more solid, speeds of 50+ now are not so scary! I wish I would have had it like this driving it back from your place, but oh well i'm here safe.

When the guys at the shop took off the shocks to do the springs, they said the shocks were blown so I will eventually need to get new shocks. For now, it's fine as it is, I'll prolly wait til after I get some christmas money to buy the shocks. Then I need to find a job...

Off topic, but what is the stock tire size for that 40? I'm trying to figure out my milage. I've searched the forum and found 27, 28, and 29 inch...do you know what the speedo is calibrated to now?

No idea what was on it when I bought it. If I had to guess I would say 27's. Check that brown factory repair manual I gave you - it has all kinds of specs in it like frame dimensions, etc. I would think it would have tire size as well.

Ahh good idea. I also picked up a more in depth manual from a libary near me...surprisingly not very helpful when I was trying to play around with timing haha. But the carb is all adjusted now and it doesn't really backfire out the carb much anymore...although i need to clean the whole thing cuz it's like black inside it and the filter is melted and full of gunk.
