1999 Toyota ToyoAce for sale.

$20,000 OBO (have another truck inbound and willing to negotiate)

5l diesel
4X4 with lockut hubs
5-speed manual
Just turned 10,000 miles and more added weekly as it is in driving rotation.

Retired fire truck that I have had in weekly rotation for the past several months. It is in great shape with a few road knicks here and there.

Replaced all 5 tires with BFG KO3s.

The timing belt and water pump were changed by the only Toyota LandCruiser specialist I know in South Texas with OEM parts from Cruiser Outfitters. All 3 drive belts were replaced with Gates belts. An oil change with Shell Rotella oil and an OEM filter was recently completed. When the winter diesel switches over to summer diesel, I have an OEM Toyota fuel filter to go in.

The JDM radio has been replaced with a 1999 OEM Toyota Cassette player with CD changer controls (the original radio comes with the vehicle). A bluetooth module is plugged into the CD changer control port to allowing streaming from a phone or any other device with bluetooth streaming. An aux/USB power/USB input port has been added to one of the switch blanks. The ToyoAce comes with one speaker on the driver side, I added three more speakers in hidden areas to round that out and provide basic listening capabilities.

The original fire equipment (CB, PA, etc.) inside the cab was already removed when I purchased the truck so I filled the holes with brass nutserts and stainless SHC screws.

A Yakima cargo rack has been added to aluminum cargo bars attached to the roof rails along with a period correct Yakima bike rack. Two additional bike racks and bike tire mounts have been added to the original cargo rack via mounts on the bars. A rooftop tent has been mounted over the bed/rear cargo area but I will be keeping that.

The truck starts (instantly! faster than any vehicle, new or old that I have ever owned), shifts, and drives as expected. I have to note here, that if you have not driven one of these firetrucks yet, it is oddly agile and smooth for what it is.

The ToyoAce comes with original fitted rubber Toyota ToyoAce floor mats. The cold weather package is operational and consists of an auxillary heater under the rear seat along with a rolling radiator cover operated from in the cab.

Receipts for just about everything since I have had it are available.

I added 2 OEM Toyota Diesel badges, 1 on each forward door. If I remember anything else, I will add to this thread.

Some random notes:

For those unfamilar with the platform, it is NOT a kei truck. It is the LY platform and more akin to a 1990's full size truck. It is shorter and narrower than my Tacoma.

It is fine around town and compeltely settled in a sweet spot at 100-120KM on the highway. 1st is really short but makes perfect sense off-road and climbing through a fire trail.

I just ran a quick errand to pick up some things for the house and had 3 people take pictures and 1 person stop and talk with me in the parking lot (they also took pictures). It is tough to go anywhere and not get photographed.

It likes 300-400 lbs in the bed. With all my camping gear, 2 bikes, and the rooftop tent, it rode smooth... like a 1980's Cadillac smooth. 4 people in the cab have more than plenty of room, way more than my Tacoma. 6 people have happened on my watch: it was doable but not comfortable.

If you are bored, an aluminum UTE bed with 3 folding sides was quoted to me for $3,000 and I would definitely take a leaf or two out if that is your route. I haven't done it becuase I cannot get myself to ruin the fire truck aesthteic yet and the bed has been fully functional as a truck bed as it is.

Fully titled, plated, registered, and insured in Texas.

I was asked for some pictures of the underside. Typical Japanese undercoating on a low KM/M truck. Pictures are from when I received it in September of 2025. I am in South Texas so no snow, no salt, and sadly little to no rain.
