I've been doing some rust work on my HJ45. Most of it isn't too bad. Nothing that can be fixed with a patch panel. The worst rust is on the second from the rear support beam, the one that mounts the body to the frame behind the rear axle. Does anyone make a replacement for this part? I suppose I should snap a few photos for a better description.

I checked SOR's site and CCOT. I don't see this piece on either site. I assume I'll have to fabricate something but figured I'd ask here first.

Give me a sketch of the profile and I'll see if I can make one for you. Pictures would be good too....

If it's anything like the cross members under a long bed 45 I may be able to help.

They are different. They are more like the tub supports under a 40 but I think unique to the Troopy body style. I'd suspect that these parts are some of the most-prone-to-rusting on a Troopy because they are located directly behind the rear wheel and get bathed in whatever the rear tire kicks up on them.

There are two pieces involved, a vertical one that's spot welded to the tub and the horizontal one that's welded to the tub support beam. If you think you can do something along these lines I'll take some measurements.

At a glance I believe I can make those - I can do the hat channel that runs across the bed floor too if required. The best way to copy them is to have them in my hand - even in all their rusted glory I can decipher info from them. A good sketch would work too - three views with dims and info like --> are the left an right mirrored or identicle?

The left and right are identical. They are the same on the HJ47 too. I can get good dimensions from the non-rusty ones on my 47. Since they're welded in place I'd end up destroying what little is left of them as I cut them off.

If my Solidworks license is still good I can draw the two parts up for you that way.

draw it as a sheet metal part rather than a solid if you can - a solid will work too... we just have to blow it apart and convert it to a sheet metal part later - no biggie

I did some work on this today in SW. I think I'm going to go a different route than the stock parts. My local guy can cut them out on his CNC plasma setup and bend them for me if I simplify the design and not go for the stock curves and bends. He may even have scrap steel laying around so it will be almost free.

Sound goods - always good to know the local guys

I'll make anything anybody needs if I can. You've come across this part needing replacing before?
